WEST SACRAMENTO — November 2, 2026. West Sacramento’s parks website describes seven community garden plots created as part of the improvements near Joey Lopes Park, but reports no immediate vacancies for the 2025–26 growing season.
How the garden works
The city describes an annual plot agreement and says gardeners in good standing may renew from year to year. That means a spot does not automatically become available to someone else when a calendar year ends.
The waiting list
Residents interested in gardening should contact the city about the waitlist instead of going to the park expecting to claim an empty plot. The city lists 916-617-4620 and gardens@cityofwestsacramento.org for information.
Community use
Joey Lopes Park also includes play equipment, a basketball half-court, shade shelters and walking areas. Use of the park’s public recreational space is separate from eligibility to tend a garden plot or reserve a private gathering.
