WEST SACRAMENTO, Yolo County — October 24, 2026. A proposal to reshape approximately 60 acres at 3425 Marshall Road in the Southport area advanced to environmental review this year. The Brar Farms Residential Development Project would create 259 single-family residential parcels, 6.65 acres of open space and frontage improvements, including a new roundabout near Marshall Road and Otis Avenue, according to the city’s published project description.

What the proposal includes

The City of West Sacramento’s August 5 announcement describes a residential subdivision together with a package of planning approvals. These include amendments to the General Plan, Southport Framework Plan and zoning provisions, as well as a tentative subdivision map, design review and a development agreement. A proposal involving several approval steps should not be described as 259 already permitted or completed houses.

The environmental review timeline

The city circulated a Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) for public review from August 5 to September 21, 2026. That comment period has now passed, but the close of a comment window is not the same as certification of a final report or approval of the underlying project. A final decision, environmental mitigation requirements and any subsequent litigation or revisions must be established from later official records.

Why neighbors should follow the file

Residents may be interested in impacts on Southport traffic, drainage, water supply, schools, parks, construction noise and the use of surrounding land. The Draft EIR and related files can help distinguish the developer’s proposal from the environmental analyses and alternatives the city must consider. The city lists the documents on its Major Planning Projects page.

Questions still open

California58 has not confirmed a final approval, building permits, financing, home-sale dates or construction start. For the latest process status, residents can contact the city’s planning staff and identify Brar Farms, 3425 Marshall Road. The August notice lists Senior Planner Seamus Laffey and the project address for written comments; older public-comment deadlines should not be mistaken for a current open period.
